WHAT IS A FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER?
Family Resource Center is a non-profit, nondenominational Christian ministry governed by a local board of directors committed to providing a positive response to the problems of abortion and sex outside of marriage.
MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to reduce the number of local abortions and to be the community-training branch of the Ahoskie Christian Center Ministries providing spiritual, social, and financial training for local families desiring to grow.
VISION STATEMENT
The Family Resource Center of Ahoskie will be the leading faith-based resource for family training and development in the Roanoke-Chowan community of North Carolina.
WHAT WE DO
As a non-denominational ministry, the Family Resource Center focuses on three programs:
- PREGNANCY SUPPORT: Equips women facing unplanned pregnancies
- PARENTING TRAINING: Teaches mothers and fathers effective parenting skills
The Pregnancy Support program at the Family Resource Center includes:
- A compassionate and confidential setting in which an Advocate offers free pregnancy testing kits (self-administered), accurate written information on fetal development, abortion procedures and risks, and support about pregnancy options.
- Training for women in prenatal care and pregnancy, breastfeeding support, birth preparation, child developmental growth, parenting, and spiritual growth. Opportunities are given to earn points family supplies.
- Ministry and support to those suffering emotionally or spiritually from a previous abortion or miscarriage.
- Information and support designed to promote abstinence until marriage, to provide accurate information about sexually transmitted diseases and contraception failure rates, and to enable teens and single adults to a practical way to adopt an abstinent lifestyle.
